For those that follow my Instagram - the past few years have been filled with various shameful sunsets and mountains sides, taken as my show FASTEST PIANO IN THE WEST features on cruise ships around the world. My feed has shared delicate temples in China. The back of a bike in Vietnam. And several top notch Starbucks... well, everywhere.
During these few years I’ve been in and out of the recording studio for several of my musical theatre works. Becoming Bill... Any Moment... The Oasis will be released in 2020 as well. While I’ve been singing and performing on the water, my focus on land has been to create for the theatre. The truth is over the past few years I’ve been focussed solely on writing.
Writing. Writing. Writing...
But a month ago that all changed for me. When I walked into the studio, alongside Adrian Carroll (co-producer and Engineer), with no other plan that to record some music and hopefully leave with my first solo studio recording.
The last time I had gone into the studio as a performer was with The Ten Tenors in 2004... Yes, that long ago... And I wasn’t really sure what music, if any, I should be recording.
Currently we are about half way through the project and I’m thrilled to say - we’re really proud and excited by what we have been creating. It’s a very intimate record. It’s a very unique record. But it’s very... well... Me.
It’s taken over 15 years to get back to singing, as myself, and I’m absolutely loving it. I hope, when you hear it, you guys do as well.
Anyway. I better get back into the booth.... We’ve still got 5 more tracks to get down.
Wish me luck.
